How can Human Resources departments aid digitally driven business transformation? Accenture’s Richard Coombes and Gilly Bryant explored this question in a recent article for HR Magazine.
less attention is given to the stuff that will make or break any transformation process; cultural and behavioural change
In a significant number of digital transformation programmes, discussion is weighted towards structural reorganisation, the turf war between CxOs, or the technology solutions required to digitally reinvent an organisation. Much less attention is given to the soft stuff. The stuff that will make or break any transformation process, digital or otherwise; cultural and behavioural change.
As Coombes and Bryant state: “transformation requires the acquisition of new skills and changes in work practices and organisational thinking.” What differentiates a digital transformation, from that which we often think of as a more conventional transformation process, is the ability to respond or commit to continuous change.
