Frequently mangers are left scrambling for the cure to their employee dysfunction. They ask themselves; is it me, them, or the culture? How can improve employee productivity? Lastly, how do I know which employees are under-preforming based on their own capabilities.

This common issue creates discomfort to anyone managing human capital but thankfully there are variables that are correlated with the implicit issues plaguing your organization. Employee engagement, counterproductive work place behaviors, organizational citizenship behaviors, and employee satisfaction are but a few of these variables. Today in this post we will highlight what employee satisfaction is and four ways to improve it.

Employee Satisfaction refers to the total amount of satisfaction and dissatisfaction a member of an organization experiences regarding an assortment of issues. Many people think that employees are either labeled as being satisfied or dissatisfied but this is truly not the case because certain topics such as compensation can create satisfaction but a lack of job variety creates employee dissatisfaction. This is why surveys are good at measuring what topics satisfies and dissatisfies employees so you can adjust to these deficits.

Four ways that someone can improve Employee Satisfaction are:

  • First, measure and record what employees are satisfied and dissatisfied about. This can be done with a survey, focus group, or simply asking your employees what they like and dislike about their current role. By quantifying employee satisfaction someone can then be able to improve these deficits.
  • Secondly, now that you have assessed what people are satisfied and dis-satisfied about you can begin to analyze ways that to improve your weaknesses and fortify your strengths.
  • Next, inform your employees of common trends and then ask for realistic solutions to these problems. Remember some solutions might not be so realistic but at least be willing to hear and consider all options so your employees have their voices heard.
  • Lastly, come up with a specific plan and goals of how to implement a change within your organization so that you can improve employee satisfaction. Once you have set goals just follow through with the plan and reap the rewards of having a more satisfied and engaged work force.
  • Lastly, remember that HRO Partners is always here to assist with your company surveying needs. With surveys ranging from compensation analysis, engagement, satisfaction, and 360 degree surveys, HRO Partners has the capability to meet all of your surveying needs.
